When it comes to my birthday, I always struggle when deciding on how to celebrate. It’s always been my (quite negative) opinion that birthday’s are overrated, and that all of the stress that goes into planning what you’re going to do, where you’re going to go, who you’re going to invite, and what you’re going to wear, to become much ado about nothing.
So for the past three years, I’ve spent my birthday at Heaton Park’s Parklike music festival. Simply because it always falls on my birthday, and me and my friends have always wanted to go. Quick, easy, and it means my birthday plans are taken care of for me.
So this year I decided to do things differently, I wanted to do something a bit more glamorous than standing in muddy fields, soaking wet with rain, cramming into staging arena’s to watch artists I barely know the songs of…
So me and some friends booked a luxury penthouse suite at ABode Manchester, located next to Piccadilly Gardens – prime location for Manchester’s nightlife. We were staying in the Johnny Cash Suite, on a floor (Aptly named, Fabulous On Fifth) that only guests with a key have access to when using the lifts, and it is by far one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. And one to which I would definitely return.
The Johnny Cash suite was luxury at it’s finest, extremely spacious with a contemporary design, I couldn’t of asked for a better location for my birthday base of operations. With exposed wooden beans, huge windows offering natural lighting, and beautifully bespoke furnishings – it was clear that this was going to be a birthday to remember.
The room included a BOSE sound system which was 100x better than using a bluetooth speaker and possibly my favourite room extra, as well as Free WIFI, a Nespresso Machine, a walk-in monsoon shower as well as a huge bath, air con, and many more special features which all added to the overall wow factor of this amazing suite.
The hotel also has it’s own stunning restaurant/bar, the Brasserie ABode – and its cocktails seriously rival the likes of Manchester’s high-end bars, such as Neighbourhood, and Australasia. Unfortunately, we already arranged plans to dine elsewhere in the city centre, however we did try some of the nibbles on the menu while starting off the night with some cocktails, and the food was simply lush.
The service at the hotel was second to none – all of the staff were friendly, welcoming and super helpful. I’m already looking for my next excuse to book a stay at the ABode Manchester, and as all of the penthouse suite’s are unique, and individually characterised, I can’t wait to find out what other luxury awaits.
**Make sure you check back soon, as I’m planning on reviewing the food menu in a future blog post**
