Being that it was my mums 50th, the occasion called for a special place to celebrate, I mean – turning half a century old is a pretty big deal. So I took my mum (Linda B) & my sister (Emma) out for lunch at Ryan Giggs’ very own George’s in Worsley & it was an absolute dream. Needless to say, my mum was so impressed with the food & service, that George’s has received a new regular!
Located in a picturesque setting, facing a beautiful canal, allowing diners to overlook the barges as they pass by, this restaurant really is an exquisite dining experience. The interior was just as beautiful, with a modern simplistic theme throughout.
And not only that, but if you’re lucky…. you just might bump into the owner himself.
The service was second to none, all of the waiters and waitresses were so welcoming, helpful & friendly, and it really did make the experience a lot more enjoyable.
We ordered some cocktails to start with, which were all fantastic. Anybody that knows me, knows I like my cocktails & they were all just fab, couldn’t fault them. My sister is pregnant so the waitress suggested the most popular virgin cocktails, which she really enjoyed.
My mum & sister opted for steaks, and as my sisters pregnant they ordered them well done (no raw meat for baby Evelyn) and as this took longer for the chef to prepare, he sent out some complimentary starters of scallops & mackerel which were presented as beautifully as they tasted.
Our main courses were perfect, I couldn’t fault mine in any way. I opted for the poached corn-fed chicken, stuffed with blue cheese with a tomato sauce, beans & salad, with a side of fries – I thought that the blue cheese was going to over power it, but I was pleasantly surprised that it all went together very well, and I would love to eat it all over again.
Both my mum & sister thought their main courses were fantastic – Linda B hasn’t stopped talking about how it was ‘the best steak she has ever had’. She said she doesn’t know how the chef managed to cook the steaks all the way through, but while still keeping them extremely tender. So well done to George’s for that, because to say my mums a fussy eater wouldn’t quite convey the depth of her fussiness.
Now onto my favourite part of the whole meal, the dessert. IT WAS GORGEOUS. All three of us chose to have the chocolate & coffee fondant, and the waitress even put a candle in my mums dessert which was a lovely gesture. If you’re a chocolate lover, I would highly recommend this dessert.
George’s is the prefect place to dine, all year round. They have a beautiful second floor veranda, as well as secure private parking, and beautiful views all around the restaurant.
I can’t wait to go back to try one of the steaks for myself, I might even book for my birthday!
If you’re looking for somewhere special to dine, then head to George’s.
